CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

Our children’s martial arts program is specially designed to cater to the needs of 3 different age groups: ages 4-5, ages 5-7 and ages 8-12. Because each group has its own set of priorities, we offer a different curriculum to best suit each class.

TINY TIGERS

AGES 4 – 5

This is our beginner’s program for our young Taekwondo Warriors. In our Ting Tigers classes, we focus on introducing our children to martial arts, therefore they will benefit from behavioral priorities like courtesy, politeness, and attentiveness. Additionally, we teach foundational blocking, punching and kicking techniques. Students in our martial art classes here in Scarsdale will learn forms (patterns) along with basic mat techniques for self-protection. Class time also emphasizes developing focus, concentration, and coordination. The Children’s Martial Arts Classes in Scarsdale are taught to count in Korean and will also learn basic Korean terminology. They enjoy exercises that increase their attention span and alertness.

BIG DRAGONS

AGES 5 – 7

This training program builds focus, concentration, and discipline in our students. Programs are designed with Bully Prevention in mind and we teach a full curriculum of the “Fundamentals” for Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do, blending our arts into a complete system. The physical activities of blocking, striking, joint locks, mat work and the myriad of kicks not only improves individual self-defense but also agility, strength, flexibility and overall fitness. Most importantly, it can be very helpful in increasing self-confidence in children.

THE WARRIORS

AGES 8 – 12

This curriculum-based training program builds on fundamental skills. This program includes classes instructed at a more technical level. Despite a more serious level of instruction, classes maintain a sense of respect and fun. Students continue to build confidence in their self-defense skills, as well as in themselves.

TEENS & ADULTS

Ages 13 & Up

At Kangs, our Scarsdale Taekwondo Program offers a variety of benefits that are not just about punching and kicking. Our emphasis, as always is on fundamentals. We work on focus, balance, and flexibility while learning a complete system of self-defense techniques. Physical activities include blocking, kicking and punching features of Taekwondo combined with locks, joint manipulation, arms bars, throws and the unique footwork and movements of the art of Hapkido. The learning is tailored to meet individual goals and capabilities so as to advance in a step-by-step manner.
